The Government of St. Kitts & Nevis has announced an important compliance update for all existing Citizenship by Investment (CBI) passport holders regarding mandatory biometric enrolment. Citizens are strongly encouraged to complete the process well ahead of the final compliance deadline of 31 July 2027 to avoid potential delays and ensure continued passport validity.

Mandatory Biometric Enrolment Deadline

All existing CBI passport holders must complete their biometric enrolment before 31 July 2027. Any passport that has not completed the required biometric registration by this date will be automatically deactivated.

Early enrolment is highly recommended to reduce the risk of processing delays and avoid operational pressure as the deadline approaches.

10% Biometric Fee Reduction for Early Enrolment

To encourage citizens to complete the process early, a 10% reduction on government biometric fees will be available for applicants who complete enrolment between:

20 July 2026 – 31 December 2026

For example:

• Main applicant biometric fee: reduced from USD 2,500 to USD 2,250 

This discount applies only during the specified period and will not be extended beyond 31 December 2026. Standard fees will resume from 1 January 2027.

Why Early Enrolment Is Recommended

As the deadline approaches, increased application volumes are expected to create operational challenges, including:

• Longer processing times: Higher demand may slow down passport issuance and could potentially result in increased operational costs.
• Limited appointment availability: Biometric collection appointments are expected to become more difficult to secure closer to the deadline.
• Increased pressure on collection centres: Delayed registrations may lead to capacity constraints across the biometric enrolment network.

Expansion of Biometric Collection Network

To support early compliance, the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) is expanding access through:

• Mobile biometric units deployed in regions with high numbers of applicants.
• Pop-up biometric centres and extended operating hours at selected locations.

Additional collection points have already been introduced in:

• United States 
• Saudi Arabia 
• Nigeria 

Further locations, including Iraq and Singapore, are expected to follow.

Integration of Biometric Enrolment and Passport Production

Starting from 1 September 2026, the biometric enrolment and passport production systems will be integrated into a single streamlined process.

This means that once citizens complete their biometric enrolment, their applications will move directly to passport production without requiring additional processing steps.

Citizens with urgent travel needs before 1 September 2026 should continue following the existing passport processing procedures.
