The Commonwealth of Dominica is a mountainous, forested Caribbean island nation with a year-round tropical climate, national parks, rare indigenous birds and the second-largest boiling lake in the world.

There are xeric areas in some of the Western Coastal regions, but heavy rainfall occurs inland. The Sisserou parrot, also known as the Imperial Amazon, and found only in Dominica, is the Island's national bird and is even featured on the national flag.
